The Pilot Post: Who Am I, Why Am I Here

I'm the Queen of indecisiveness. Making decisions is a skill with which I struggle, and I have no trouble admitting that. I came to the University of Tampa from a small beach town along the coast of New Hampshire (the best state throughout the entire New England). My 13-mile-long town is the only part of the state that touches the ocean. I have it all, mountains, lakes, beaches, seasons, etc.; the only thing we’re lacking is our own professional sports teams. I came to the University of Tampa with the intent to study sport management, after my freshman year I added a communications major and now I have a public relations minor as well. This is the indecisiveness I mentioned earlier. I have no idea what I want to do. Now I have many options once I graduate which for me, I’m not sure is the best idea but it helps with the impending stress of my future post-college.

Digital media is relevant for my communications major and PR minor but also just a great topic to be knowledgeable about within my future industry. I have previous practice with some of the tools and topics within this class; however, I believe practice makes perfect and I’m always ready to learn more. Our generation is very much digital. I think having the ability to manipulate images and videos is a very useful asset today. In this class, I expect to strengthen the technological skills I already possess while learning new tips and tricks to improve my craft. The internet is always changing which means there’s always something to learn. I hope this class will allow me to do more than I’m able to do now. I feel as though this class will focus more on the scientific or mathematic approach to digital media where in the past, I was learning the artistry and craft of the technology. I hope this class allows me to understand the tools I’m using as opposed to just being able to manipulate them.

            WHO AM I…

As I previously mentioned, I’m a New England girl, born and raised. I have a variety of interests that mostly circle back to sports. I’m obsessed with all things sharks and stingrays and always have been. My favorite season is fall but the New England type of fall, color changing leaves, cool breezes, and apple cider donuts; not the hot and humid, hurricane season we have down here in Tampa. I came to Tampa to be close to professional sports. Walking distance from the Lightning, a 15-minute drive from the Buccaneers, and an easy commute from the Rays. I’m a big pasta girl, I love Italian food for any occasion and would love to travel to Italy someday; However, Greece is top of my list because I love the Mama Mia movies.
